Is your ebook keeping tabs on you?

If you can step away from the big brother undercurrent in the article, I do sometimes wonder if there is such a thing as too much data.

If they start keeping an orgasm count then that's probably too much.

>1 southernbooklady: I do not have an ebook reader but if it is possible to disable the network connection on a reader, then buy your ebooks via another device from which you transfer them onto your reader?

Could be interesting if it's factored into the author's royalty payments. And it would be fascinating data. Just imagine if we discovered that Henry James has a higher orgasm count than D.H. Lawrence, or George Eliot hits the G-spot more often than Anaïs Nin....

You can always get an ereader that doesn't have a network connection at all. Most of the first generation e-Ink devices, other than the Kindle, just have a USB connection.

Seriously, I should think this is much scarier for authors than readers. Just imagine getting a report showing that only 5% of readers get beyond page 120.
