Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. My first Group Read of the year. This will begin on January 15th. I will probably post 2 separate spoiler threads. I hope we have a nice turn-out and start this year with a bang!

I'll join you. It was on my 11 in 2011 list already.

I'm in! I'd been hoping to read this book sometime this year; it's been calling to me from its shelf for some time, now, and I just picked up a digital copy for greater ease and portability, too.

I got a copy for the holidays, so I'm going to try and join you. Never done an LT group read before but it sounds fun.

Oh, this is in the reachable stack of books--at the bottom I think--but retrievable. Last year's group reads were so great for me, I'm in.

I already read this book, but I think I will read it again with you :)

I read this book several years ago for a book club I was in. I loved it. It was one of my best reads of that year. I found it puzzling at the beginning and then just plain confused. I stayed with it and it got better. I am really looking forward to hearing what others have to say about it because it is sooooooo good. I hope that somebody else will be as fascinated with an orison as I was. By-the-way, the Oxford English Dictionary needs to update its entry on orison. There is not a single reference in the entry to David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas. For shame OED! Or at least, for shame, editors of the OED.

Benita- Please stop by and leave a comment or 2!!

Looks like we will have a nice turn-out!

I will be breaking this into a 2 week read. It's on the long side, so it might take some readers longer, which is fine.
Here is Week One- Spoiler Thread

I'm 18 pages in! Can't wait to get far enough to discuss. :)

Maybe I can do this? I started *CA* this fall and had to put it down for some forgotten reason. If I don't read it with you, I'll have the thread starred for when I do.

Is it too late to join in? Where are people in the book? Should I go to the spoiler page to see what's happening?

Lisa- It's not to late! I'm nearly half-way through but I'm probably reading it a bit faster than everyone else. Remember, this just started Saturday.

I'm only on page 55 at the moment... but plan to move ahead now that I finished the other book I was reading. Jump right in Lisa! :)

Ok, Mark, I read Cloud Atlas last week. Is this the thread where you just say you're reading it and then you actually discuss the book in the "spoiler" thread?

Whew....almost missed it. I finished Mitchell's Thousand Autumns and on advise from several others, have skipped the 1st chapter for the time being. I'm liking #2, so I think I'll be able to hang in with you all. Thanks for hosting Mark.

Mitchell is definitely a way above average writer....

Never to late guys! It looks like several people are reading this slowly.

Bonnie- Yes! The link for Week One is in Msg# 14.

Tina- I'm already thinking about hosting a Group Read for Thousand Autumns later in the year. I love this guy.
