I was pleased the NYT recently highlighted Solo: My Adventure in the Air by Clyde Edgerton and Seaworthy: Adrift with William Willis in the Golden Age of Rafting by T. R. Pearson. I have enjoyed reading both authors' novels over the years and was surprised and delighted with their non-fiction ventures...I highly recomend both books. And I recommend their novels: Raney, Walking Across Egypt, & The Floatplane Notebooks by Edgerton and A Short History of a Small Place & Off for the Sweet Hereafter by Pearson.

I liked Walking Across Egypt on audio; there was movie of it made with, I believe, Ellen Burstyn as Mattie. I'll have to give Edgerton's aviation book a try. I listened to his Lunch at the Picadilly as well, which wasn't as interesting, but was shorter.
