I used to speak some, but seem to have lost it all. Argh!
ETA: OK, not all. I still have enough left to understand this note I wrote to a student. :p

I lived in Japan 15 years and can speak Japanese. How do you get the kana for Librarything?

You have to set up your operating system for Japanese input. What OS and version are you using?

My computer doesn't have a lot of memory and I doubt that it would support Japanese input if I have to change the OS setup. Demo, Romaji wa daijobu desho ka?

You don't necessarily have to have a new computer to do Japanese input, unless you mean really old, as in DOS. But Windows 95 and later supports it, and any version of Mac OS X should already have it installed.

My computer has Windows 95 (at least). so how do I go about setting up the Japanese input?

There are instructions here. Look under "Windows 95/98/ME Installation". If you have MS Office XP, follow the directions at "Microsoft Office XP Installation", or if you have Office 2000 or don't have any version installed, look at "Microsoft Office 2000 or No Version of Microsoft Office Installation".
