Hi all, I just wanted to remind everyone that this Friday is the 13th. What scary or creepy book are you reading in honor of the day. I have to decide on one for myself...any suggestions?

I decided I will read some Edgar Allan Poe stories on Friday, then check out Netflix instant for bad Horror.

Honestly, I don't have anything planned. I have a meeting in the morning, then half a day of work, so I'll have plenty of time afterwards. Maybe the unoriginal choice--a Friday the 13th movie.

Teaching 16-19 year olds. All day. I think that's scary enough!

Going to work, being very careful, then running a RPG for teenagers. I see you and raise you one, bibliobeck...:)

#3 nothing wrong with a Friday the 13th movie.
#4, 5 & 6, I agree, teenagers are pretty scary...we all used to be one.

my sister works nights as a nurse on the psych ward at her hospital....she'll have an interesting Friday the 13th.

#3, #7 - So the next day will you be watching Saturday the 14th? (Good God, I liked that movie as a kid. When I was young, my taste sucked.)

I've selected my airplane reading for this Friday, and it consists of Nunquam, Spurs, and Led Zeppelin IV.

#9: Saturday the 14th? There's seriously a movie called that? :D Naw, I don't plan on watching that one on Saturday, but I do want to look it up.

#9 I had to look up Saturday the 14th. It looks pretty bad, but I'll have to check it out...I hope it's on Netflix.

I didn't have anything planned, but since I'm going to be on a train and bus for several hours, it'll be a good time to read the third volume of Barker's Books of Blood.

Quickly checks the table of contents to see if that's the volume with Midnight Meat Train...

Shoot, I just finished T.E.D. Klein's The Ceremonies last night. I should have waited and read the conclusion on the 13th.

Starting Shadow On the Sun thanks to some recommendations here...

#13, how do you like books of blood? I don't usually read short stories, but if they are good horror stories I'd be interested.
#15 The Ceremonies looks good...I think I will add it to my 'to read' list.

Joybee: I highly recommend The Ceremonies. Like some of the reviewers here on LT, I thought the end was wrapped up a bit quickly. Unlike those reviewers though, I thought the end was appropriate and satisfying. Great book.

#14 - Sadly, no, as that would have been very appropriate.

#16 - I quite like them. Barker definitely gets into some very weird and/or dark territory.

I went to Salem Massachusetts.

#19, that sounds like a fun trip for Friday the 13th, see any witches? How about black cats?

There are witches all over Salem. If you mean actual witches, I don't know. I suppose I could have. :D
I went to the House of the Seven Gables that the Hawthorne story is based on. It has a fantastic garden.
I live in Andover in the same county as Salem so I will have to make another trip there soon.
