I think it's a clever way to get people to think about emergency preparedness.

That clip art up at the top of the article has been used on three different horror novels. We have a cover comparison in one of these threads. Whoever created it is laughing all the way to the bank.

LOL. Clever. Or the CDC knows we're cooking up some particularly nasty zombie virus in a lab somewhere....

"Hey, guys, why is this bio-lab now off-limits to civilians, and surrounded by the Army?"

"Oh, no reason. Hey, post this new list of disaster preparedness notes on our website..."

I wonder how George Romero feels about the 'sudden' zombie craze. I feel like he created something incredibly popular, but gets little respect for it.

Max Brooks goes into much more detail on preparedness for the Zombie Apocalypse, but the CDC made a good start.

On a serious note, I bet it gave you pause about thinking about how and if you're prepared for an emergency. Which was pretty much the point of the whole thing.

I could have sworn that some scientist published a paper saying that he expected a "tissue eating" disease within the next 5 years that some folks took to be meaning zombies but I couldn't find it right off. Searched for a couple of minutes on it but couldn't locate it.
