linking events to books w/o linking to author

I don't think there's any way to do this now, but please let me know if I'm missing something. What I'd like to be able to do is to link an event to a book but without making it look like the author's going to be there. I came across this issue while entering some "book club discussion" events. Then I noticed that my Local module showed the author's name and picture, and really gave the impression the author was somehow involved. Thoughts on how to get around this?
