I find that I am increasingly interested in the lives of poets. For example, I recently heard a Radio Four 'Book of the week' Now all roads lead to France about the last years of the poet Edward Thomas and again on Radio Four 'Emily Dickinson' in the series 'Great Lives' - what a fascinating woman! I also had to buy Letters to Monica after hearing it on Radio Four about letters written by the poet Phillip Larkin. Does anyone else enjoy biographies by or about poets?

Hi there. I enjoy biographies of writers in general and I'd love to read more biographies of poets. I often can't find them though. Although it wasn't exactly biography, I loved reading a book of interviews with writers, including poets, called Women Writers at Work: The Paris Review Interviews. It includes a lot of biographical material and it's much more fascinating than the title implies.
I'd love to hear what biographies other readers recommend.

I like biographies and autobiographies in general. The best poet biography that I can recall is Ian Gibson's Federico Garcia Lorca: A Life. Pablo Neruda's Memoirs is a classic. Talk about an incredible life. In my TBR pile I have W.S. Merwin's Summer Doorways: A Memoir.

Thanks, mejix. I enjoy Lorca's work and I'll try to find that biography.
Best wishes.
