Hoping to get it soon, then I will start trying to have a discussion about it's pros and cons.

I was scared of used Kindles because of some horror stories about scams and stolen Kindles. Let me know how it goes for you, I'd like to have my faith restored.

I absolutely love it. It has no problems and I have already read about 10 books on it.

My new book is on sale on Amazon for $2.99 if you are interested in fantasy. Check out the free sample and see how it looks on your new kindle. Valley fo Mystery (Demesne).

I ended up getting a used Kindle 3 3G as well. I got my off of craigslist for $60. I met the person at a coffeeshop and registered the device to my name before I left. I suppose he could always try to report it stolen, but things look good so far!

Good luck to anyone who's purchased a used device, and I mean that sincerely. My concern is for the battery life, and you won't know that this is a problem until the battery stops carrying a charge. And when that happens, the machine's dead because Amazon eliminated the user-replaceable battery with the upgrade from K1 to K2.

I'm a very early adopter, and I've still got my K1 somewhere around the house for backup. I upgraded to K2 as soon as it came out because of the improved software (mainly the Collections feature), and my K2 stopped carrying a charge after the two-year extended warranty had expired. I tried a DIY kit to replace the battery, and it worked for about a week and then the machine died altogether.

I've now got a K3 and I didn't bother buying the extended warranty because of the relatively low price of the unit.

My warning on buying these devices used from eBay or anywhere else would be, beware of the condition of the battery, which is usually the first thing to go.

The battery in my K2 died after about 3 years so I bought a new one on line. It came with the tools to open the K2 and a youtube video showing the operation, took about 15 min.
If this battery only lasted a week it would have gone back for a replacement darn quick.

Could someone tell me what is the format for listing my kindle books on librarythng? Do I just add the books and look for the kindle edition?

7>> My original problem was, I'm pretty sure, the battery. Problem is, I don't know if I forced something when I opened the K2 and if that's what caused the problem rather than the battery. Oh well.... I'm on K3 now.
