A Christmas Carol adaptations

Recently reading Batman: Noel, which updated the Christmas Carol with characters from DC comics, I began thinking about all the various adaptations (literary and cinematic) to A Christmas Carol. A lot of them are flat-out bad but some are pretty good. Does anyone here have any favorites?

Muppet Christmas Carol. Even just thinking about it makes me grin.

Couldn't resist mentioning Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, which I feel compelled to watch annually.

Love the 1970 musical 'Scrooge' starring Albert Finney, even though it hasn't got a great reputation. We watch it nearly every Christmas Eve (actually prefer it to the Alistair Sim non-musical version) I also love a one hour BBC radio show (also a musical version) first broadcast in 1978 starring Roy Dotrice as Scrooge.

Scrooged: Bill Murray - a little dated but still funny. Though I must admit, Magoo's has always been my favorite.

My daughter loves Mickey's Christmas Carol with Scrooge McDuck.

Great ones: Mr. Magoo, those starring Jim Carrey (Disney), Patrick Stewart, George C. Scott, Alastair Sim, Reginald Owen. The Sim and Owen ones have a nice "antiqued" (by now) feel (although I find Owen a bit hokey), and anything starring a talent like Stewart or Scott is bound to be worth a look. While I like Jim Carrey, I thought that was anything but a guaranteed success (artistically), as ACC's story depends on an essential humanity to be told effectively; I'd thought that Disney/Carrey might have been too over the top, but it turned out to be a best-case scenario in terms of his performance, the special effects, the animation, the mood struck etc. As for Magoo, I have no explanation: I just love it.

I've seen most of these iterations. Finally going to read the actual book this month, so I can sort out fiction from ... uh ... fiction. You know what I mean?

Started my 1st annual December reading yesterday. For those that enjoy ACC, an annual December read is a nice thing, and it's short enough to always fit in.

I love this film as well. It is a family classic at our house. I would say it has the best Ghost of Christmas Present of them all.

We have a neighbor down the road who puts up an elaborate themed front yard Christmas display every year. This year's theme was Mickey's Christmas Carol complete with life size painted wooden characters. I go a little slower every time I pass that house. What a delight. We've already spent one evening as a family watching Mickey's Christmas Carol and I've done my reread of the book. Enjoying myself.
