H.H. Dalai Lama's newest

I just posted my review of my ER copy of H.H. Dalai Lama newest book, Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World. I REALLY LOVED this book and am wondering if others have read it and what their thoughts are. I find it very practical and very useful.

Thanks for the link - I enjoyed reading your review. My fav part was the part you wished you had read 30 years ago of course! since I could relate to it so well. Stopping the struggle - hmmm what a concept. It reminds me of another phrase, can't remember if it was HHDL or someone else, who made reference to "the violence of self-improvement".

Mostly, I was so taken with the book I almost didn't trust my overwhelming response to it. But, he does have a way of simplifying things. Sometimes I think Buddhism is just so freakin simple. Awareness is everything. It just seems like the ideas presented cover every conceivable occurrence in the world!

I haven't read it, but after looking at these reviews I might see if I can find a copy.

I am struck by how similar this book is in many ways to those of Ajahn Sumedho, who is a monk of the Theravada tradition. And from time to time I was reminded of the American ex-Zen teacher, Toni Packer. I would recommend the Dalai Lama's latest book. It's appeal should certainly reach far beyond those who are involved in or interested in the Vajrayhana tradition of Buddhism.
