City of Ember is good. It doesn't directly deal with those issues, but it's about a city underground because the world above was too destroyed to continue living in. It's an pretty easy read but with a few little mysteries to solve that are interesting.

Sally Odgers, Kayak! (1992, 112 p.). Twins Luke and Mark Winwood are inseparable; that is, until Mark mysteriously vanishes while kayaking down the Bandinangi River. No one can find Mark, his kayak or any clue as to what may have happened to him. But would anyone believe what had happened to him? Hauled into the future by shrouded ghost people, Mark is charged with being a vandal - an environmental thug. In a society where even noise is considered a pollutant, Mark's crime of throwing away his plastic Freeze-Squeeze bag has condemned him to stern treatment by his captors. He is in real trouble - especially when they start testing him to see if he has intelligence...

Dr Seuss, The Lorax (63 p.) and Bill Peet, The Wump World have an environmental theme.

Colin Thiele, Landslide (1998). When a large company buys land in a small country town livelihoods are threatened by the company's plans to build a dam. The forces of nature take control however, and the disaster that follows may, in the long run, benefit the town. Includes the environmental effects of the dam and cotton industry on the valley (lack of water, pollution from sprays, etc.).

Audrey Coppard, Who Has Poisoned the Sea? (1972). What would you do if you were suddenly confronted by a boy who said he came from the future, and who had electronic gadgets attached to his head? And asked for your help in a desperate situation? This is what happened to Tim Dunwoodie. Percy, his accidental visitor from the 25th century, tells him that in Tim's day some unknown substance had been released into the Atlantic, slowly changing into a deadly poison. Vast areas of the oceans are being laid waste.

Mark Shirrefs, Tomorrow's End (The Girl From Tomorrow: Part II) (1991). The effect of pollution is seen in one of the future worlds.

Lilith Norman, The paddock (1992). Shows how one particular piece of land - the paddock - changes over the passage of time, from the beginning of the Earth to the coming of the dinosaurs, animals, man, cities, and beyond. This is a very well-done picture book I read recently.

This one would be good.

Thea Stilton and the ice treasure (edition 2011)
(Thea being the sister of Geronimo Stilton).
The story talks about the environment, global warming, and melting of arctic ice. You also learn about Inuits and Alaska.

First Light is about a secret town under the ice of Greenland. They are being threatened by climate change.

yasemin.ykar8298> Why don't you make a separate topic? You'd get more responses that way. I'll go ahead and recommend I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to kill You (It's one of the few things my 13 year old sister reads).
