I read a book a long time ago. A fictional historical romance. I can''t remember the author's name but remember the title which I think was "Henry of Navarre". Any book I've looked for on the internet and on this forum so far that has that name in it is not the one I'm looking for. I remember the plot and story line very vividly

Principle characters in the book were :

Jehanne, Marny (Robert of Marny), (both these characters are I believe fictional and the story revolves around them.
Gabrielle de Estrees, Henry of Navarre, Guise de Luc.

The book opens on a scene where Jehanne is about to be burn't at the stake for witchcraft.

If anyone has any leads please help !

I don't think this is the book that you are thinking of but two other authors that knocked me out when writing about this fascinating period of history are La Reine Margot by Alexandre Dumas, also made into a French movie, and Young Henry of Navarre by Heinrich Mann, brother of Thomas Mann. This is of no use to finding the book which you were asking about, which I am sure is a valuable work but which I am not familiar with, but rather suggestions for alternate reading material.

I may have found it but I won't know for sure for at least a week or two. I couldn't remember the authors name and so had difficulty finding the book. But then I thought what if the title was wrong. So I looked up all books with reference to Henry of Navarre and found one where the brief description spoke of a fictional novel. Its called The Love Of Navarre by Margaret Peterson. The latest publication was in 1922.
On a whim I sent a message to the publisher requesting information on three character references and the opening scene in the book. All three matched and I ordered the book. Its being shipped from England.
Of course I still don't know if its the book I am looking for but I feel fairly confident it is since it would have to be a really bizarre coincidence for 2 of the 3 fictional characters and the opening scene to be identical in two or more books. :).

I hope you found the book you were looking for! If not, you might search under the Name Henry IV or Henry de Bourbon.

I am a first timer, but I'll try to do my best. I've been looking for this book forever. I can't remember the main characters names, but I think one of the names was Rafe. It starts out with two childhood sweet hearts playing in the Scotland Hills. They end up making love on their special hill. The young man has black hair and green eyes and is gifted with sight. He can see his sweet heart in the future chained up in front of a Judge in England about to be killed. This is during the Napoleon Era.

He can also see a handsome British Earl or Duke there also trying to help her. Back in present times the man from England comes to Scotland to help build a lumber mill. During the night he hears a party going on in the valley below and he sees a girl dancing who he falls in love with. He meets her and tries to think of a way to take her back to England with him. Just so happens that her father gets ill so he tells her he can get the best Doctors for him in England if she goes there with him. She has to decide if she wants to stay in Scotland with her sweet heart or go to England with the British man.

Well she goes to England to save her dad and breaks her sweethearts heart. While she's there, she falls in love with the Earl and the things that the sweetheart foresees come about. The sweetheart ends up going to England and saves her and the Earl. She goes back home with the sweetheart and breaks the Earls' heart. The sweetheart sees the Earl crying as their leaving. While there back in Scotland, She can't forget the Earl so she goes back. She finally goes back home like 15 years later when her first born son is older. She also has to other kids. They run into her childhood sweetheart and he realizes that the oldest boy is his. He has black hair and green eyes just like him and has the gift of sight.

Sorry about being so long winded, but it is driving me crazy that I can't find this book. Somebody please help. lol
