okay so i live in louisiana and we are big mardi gras people. does anyone else celebrate mardi gras at all. what do you love about it
2poemgirl98
Yes. I live in New Orleans and I went to Rex and Zulu today. We celebrate Mardi GRAS every year. I love Mardi gras because it's a time to forget about worries, have fun with friends and family, and catch some beads:)

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is the last day before Lent starts. Lent is a months long period of fasting, prayer, and sacrifice in Catholicism, so Fat Tuesday is the last day to pig out on food and partying. :)

Mardi Gras is like a week long festival. have you ever heard of Fat Tuesday well that is the set date of mardi gras. it originated in new orleans. basically we have lots of parades and wear purple, yellow and green. some go to balls and we have masks. at the parades we catch beads and candy. music is blasting.

I wish I could celebrate Mardi Gras. Unfortunately, I live in California, so it's not done.

I'll bet. I've heard that some ladies flash themselves in order to receive more beads - is that true?
9poemgirl98
Yep it's true. My little brother was unfortunate to see a pair of women doing that. My friends and I dance for beads. It works. I love the king cake and the good NOLA food.:) I had so much fun yesterday. I absolutely love Mardi Gras

If I ever get to Mardi Gras I will be sure to dance like you do, rather than what some ladies lower themselves to do. Honestly, why does everyone feel the need to display themselves as human meat? Don't they know that they are just asking for the rest of humanity to treat them as only objects?

:) I know right it's downright degrading. Next year come to New Orleans and we can go to Rex and Zulu and watch the balls. It's my favorite time of the year honestly.

I wish. :( My parents don't travel, unfortunately. But I guarantee you that when I'm an adult and off being my own person, I will be so happy to go to New Orleans and see the beautiful balls, costumes, and pageantry!

I love to live in New Orleans. The music, beignets, and people are just amazing. I love to walk with my friends around the city.mwe go shopping on Magazine street. We love to go to Marie Laveau's voodoo shop. We eat beignets and cafe aú lait. It's so much fun

well i live in louisiana and i have yet to enter new orleans. everytime my parents go its always during a bad time like halloween i hear they do very bad things.
16poemgirl98
It's really fun to live their but during Mardi GRAS it was bad. Twenty people were shot on Fat Tuesday in the Quarter.:( R.I.P It's ridiculous what some people do in the city. During halloween they have a lot of haunted houses and stuff and they are like legit freaky. But if you go in the quarter during the day you're fine and at night to sometimes. It's just mainly during Mardi GRAS but if your not scared nothing bad will happen:)
18poemgirl98
Yeah. It's not that bad if you know where you are and if you know your street smarts
21poemgirl98
It's okay:) Mardi gras over now and it's now lent
23poemgirl98
Yep no more parades or beads but after a while it gets tiring
26poemgirl98
I kind of miss it, but then I remembered getting hit in the head with beads so yeah lol
