I have read less than usual during July and August (although there are still books not entered from the trip some of which may be read).

I expect to finish the fiction challenge in September, which will mean that overflow will start filling faster. There are several categories in nonfiction that will fill soon, making an October finish at least consievable. The German is less far along (I was not reading in German while in England.) We'll see. By the end of September it should be a lot clearer how likely I am to finish. There are at least plenty of books around to read!

I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't get more categories finished in September, but I have not paid a lot of attention to that when choosing books. Guess I have to now.

Fiction - I'm close. A few more Shute, and then it's a matter of tidying things up and moving a lot to overflow.

Nonfiction - lots of 8-9 book categories. Many of them I have the books waiting to read.

Christian Theology (9) should fill. I may not be able to split off Anglican this year. So should non-Christian (8).

With 2 more embroidery books I can separate that out from other arts and crafts, giving another category there. To get both other needlework and other arts and crafts is a stretch.

History and Travel is now at UK 7+3 canals, 3US+5 other. Biggest priority is two more US and other.

Food - I have 8 cookbooks and one biography. This is easy, the cookbooks are waiting.

Survival is another 9 - currently filled in overflow.

German

I'm now at 8 each Austria and Vienna. Those should be separatable.

Children's nonfiction is a bit more of a problem. (6)

Two more food and garden books (not cookbooks) should be doable.

Also 2 Arts and Crafts.

I finished fiction last week, and am currently cleaning things up there. The others are also coming on well this month.

The easiest way to fill nonfiction would be in Theology - with one more Christian and two non-Christian books. I'll have to look at the library next week. Or maybe read a lot of the narrowboat books I bought between now and Christmas! (along with more UK history and travel. Not a problem.) Note: if Christian Theology overfills, English Churches explained becomes UK history and travel.

German is in a better situation with several categories nearly full. This will be done by the end of November for sure.

Overflow will not be a problem once the others are done.

I am finishing up the year with a total of 47 categories of 10 books each. (See previous message.)

Total books read is 494. According to my catalogue that should be 502. I don't think there is any (reasonable) way of figuring out which 8 books didn't get into the statistics.

Of that total, 23 were from Gutenberg, and another 7 were other e-books for a total of 30 e-books read. This is a bit more than one a week, as I bought the iPad in July.

Fiction and is at 13 categories. Overflow is at 14. Next year all fiction categories, whether in fiction or in Overflow will need 14 to fill.

Excellent reading year, Martha! I find that now that I have a device for reading e-books on, I am reading more books from Project Gutenberg.
