It's international book week. The rules: Grab the closest book to you, turn to page 52, post the 5th sentence as your status. Don't mention the title

note1 - I just copied this from elsewhere, hence the "status" part crossed out.
note2 - I have no clue whether this is actually real in anyway, just seeing it posted in a lot of places, generally dated Sept 15 or 18, 2012

in any case:

"Missing now from these first families is only the adored Rachel, who died in the desert giving birth to Benjamin and was wrapped in strips of linen and buried in sand."

Nelson and I had passed many pretty country villages crowded with tourist couples shopping for maple products.

"And the grape goes as far as Andalusia, to the Greek islands that I know well, to the Madeiras, and it seems that it even reaches to the land of the Moors, although they do not make wine from it because that is prohibited by the Koran."

Above all, these photographs give you an idea of the smell, sound and sight of his studio when the twentieth century dawned-wooden turntables rotate on iron wheels, pulleys creak as a statue is hauled into place, the dust of marble settles on the parquet flooring, in a corner you can see Bourdell in his indigo blue costume labouring away at a detail in his statuary; students in white blouses try their hands amid piles of decorative stone; and who is that young woman model looking so contemporary but born a century ago?
(Now that is a long sentence!)

It is no secret that James Webb, NASA's voluble, aggressive, extraordinarily competent administrator, was dead set against it, and had so ruled.

Well the first book I picked up page 52 was full page Ronald Searle illustration, so I had to go with the second.

"Surrounded by family, money, status, and an appropriate social circle, she moved through a predetermined life to the defined goal of marriage, and eroticism played little part in either the journey or the destination."

This could be very tough to guarantee, from the point of view of MAV engineering systems alone, putting aside the possibility of bad weather on the appointed take-off date.

'There is no trusting to Squire Jar,' Grandmother Trott said crossly, 'and though the good steward makes all things seem easy to us, both here and hereafter, yet that cursed Squire - a man who reaps where he has never sown - may suddenly break into our house, like a thief, and take away the key of the field and give it back again to Uncle Tiddy.'
