Again, I have the correct information in the results box, but when I click on the link to add the book to my catalog list, nothing happens. Prior to this, I went in backwards by using someone else's list to catalog the book to my list. Apparently, no one has this one in their list so I am at a dead end. I am technically challenged, so could someone give me instructions (as if to a 2-yar old) to add this book to my list?

Thriller2 edited by Clive Cussler, copyright 2009, ISBN 978-0-7783-2723-3

Go to the "Add books" tab. Enter the ISBN in the search box, without hyphens. Click "Search".

In the right-hand column, click on the title of listing that looks the most like your book. Voila -- it is in your library.

If you want to tidy up the entry, click on "edit" and edit the listing to your heart's content.

You can pick where you want to search from. I used Overcat and got 5 results for that ISBN.

Going in via someone's catalog works great if you've just stumbled upon something you forgot you had, or something you've decided to add to your wishlist, but it's really slow for adding in general. PhaedraB's method is by far the fastest in general.

The book shows up in the right column under results. But, when I click on the title, it will not add to my list nor do anything else. I have checked to see if anyone else has the book in their catalog, but apparently they do not. Help!

OldDan, does it show up in the "recently added" right hand side-bar at all? Or are you not seeing it in your catalog?

Whether it's in anyone else's catalog shouldn't make any difference whatsoever.

I just tried, and I was able to add it to my catalog without difficulty. It says it is in 94 other people's catalogs, too, under the name Thriller 2 rather than Thriller2.

I think it's the backslash bug. The Amazon record has backslashes in it, so the link on the add books page won't work.

OldDan, when you are on the "add books" page, select OverCat instead of Amazon in the list that says "Search where?", and that should give you a functional link.

Eureka! The OverCat worked!!! Thank you!

Overcat is our friend :-)

I sent a request for a title change to Amazon; if they accept it, it should prevent similar problems in the future.

Glad to help. That bug shows up pretty frequently.

In general, I find that OverCat provides more reliable information than Amazon.

Good idea PhaedraB. I respond to people asking about this bug a lot, but I never thought of trying to get the information corrected on Amazon.

I sent them a correction request and they made the correction within 20 minutes (although it might take a day or so before it shows up on their site). I send correction requests all the time and it is very rare that they do not make them.
