There appears to be no special procedures for reporting spam authors, so I thought I would start a new topic for this one:

http://www.librarything.com/author/hirecarmanchester

The reviews for both of the books basically state that this is a car rental firm that specializes in short and long term rentals. No link to a web site, but its pretty clear to me that this is blatant commercial promotion.

I've flagged both of the works:

http://www.librarything.com/work/13032882

....and flagged the member who added them:

There is also an editor involved in hcrmanchester scheme:

I flagged the work as well:

Yep, definitely spam. Flag the works, and flag the member. There's nothing to do for the author page itself. Once there aren't any works on the page there'll be nothing to link to it, and no reason anyone would ever come across it.

I received a friend request from an apparent spammer, whose only goal seems to be to promote his own poetry books. His book collection consists of a whopping 3 books. Wow. (And they're all his own authored books).

(I started to flag his page, but the instructions that popped up stated that flagging was to report commercial spamming only, and that authors should be reported by email. Not sure whom to email, so I'm posting it here).

Hi, I was going to flag this author for spamming my profile, but the flag thingy said authors are supposed to be reported by email. I'm not sure whose email to use, so I came here and...

http://www.librarything.com/profile/raingrl is the user. Signed up today and appears to have no interaction with LT other than promoting her book on profiles.

John,

Personally, I don't consider an author telling others about her work to be spam. I would like to check out that offer. Do you remember her name or a link?

Besides, on LT an author telling others about their book is considered spam. It is forbidden in the Terms of Service. Sending messages to others profiles is very spammy and obnoxious.

Well, it depends on where they're telling people about their book. If it's done in Hobnob with Authors, or on their own profile, it's okay.
