I'm aiming at 10 categories of 10 books each in four different challenges. I'll comment on all my reading here.

General statistics are at http://www.librarything.com/topic/141224

Winds of change
I finished it in bed after midnight, so normally I'd have counted this for yesterday, but instead I'll count it as the first book finished for this year.

Lavinia
Le Guin has written better.

Don't worry (it's safe to eat)

Der Altmexikanische Federkopfschmuck
Now to go back and see the new exhibit again! An interesting catalogue if you read German or Spanish.

I got fascinated with art forgery in high school, so always glad to read more about it.

Hermann Leopoldi, Hersch Kohn : eine Biographie

Medieval garments reconstructed : Norse Clothing Patterns
This is exactly what the title says - patterns for reconstructing Norse (specifically Greenland) garments. They go into the threads and weaves used as well so that if you want to start with spinning your own threads (from the right sort of sheep) on spindles and weave with a traditional vertical loom, you could do it, but they also have suggestions for making it easier on yourself.
BTW My husband is not going along with the idea of us getting a few pet Icelandic sheep, even if they would mow the lawn for him. Review.

Weihnachtszeit oder Heiße Schokolade bei Signora Rosa
This was a nice one.

Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Europa vom Mittelalter bis zur Barockzeit
Reviewed.

Silk Road
Not as long as it looks, because of the short chapters that use a lot of paper. It was easy to read and I enjoyed it. As for the ending (see a review) there wasn't going to be a big happy ending. Anything like a climax would have read very false.

Bluff your way in music
I decided to throw this away, as it has become very dated sometime in the past half a century.

BTW, no, I don't read Turkish, but most embroidery pattern books can be used without reading the limited amount of text. 'Reading' a book like this involves looking at the patterns and evaluating their usefulness and appeal.

Mein Leben in Schönbrunn
An interesting one. Although the author is actually English mother tongue, the German often seems to flow better. I found the parts describing his experiences at Schönbrunn to be more interesting than the parts describing the individual rooms.
It was also interesting to hear that my recollections of the tours in the 70s were accurate. If they are now better it is time to go through again.

The house at Tyneford
The Vienna parts didn't convince me. The parts in England are lovely.

Essig : Sinnlichkeit & Leidenschaft
Discarded. The recipes are very fancy. and everything depends on his vinegars. In the end a big ad for his products. Review.

Delightful.

Huxley can write good narrative fiction. In this case he wrote nonfiction, and didn't bother with good narrative.

Valadas versinkende Gärten
A good story, but it goes on longer than it really has the substance for.

Tricky, tricky. Halfway through the book I was rather disgusted with it, as I was getting tired of reading about all the 'bugs' of various sorts that we share our houses with. However the final chapters were all about foxes and birds and ... although they left out hedgehogs :-( . So I finish the book very happy with it.
