I have 18 books left to read and only 16 days to do it. Mission impossible? I'm going to give it my best try.

The plan is to listen to at least 2 of them on audiobook - that would leave a book a day. Realistically, I can't read a book a day when I have to work. On weekends I can read 2-3 books a day. Looking at my upcoming schedule, I might be able to read 12 books. That would leave me 4 books short - arggghhh!

Hey Booklizard, you're not alone! Although I did not set a numerical goal for my challenge, I am trying to even out the number of books in my categories, which would be a full 144. All things in balance though... Reading should be fun. I feel when I'm reading for the numbers it's not as enjoyable. Still, I want to see how far I can get too. See you at the finish line!

I only 1.5 books left to finish my 12 in 12 but I will be here to cheer you on BookLizard, Victoria, and anyone else making that last push to the finish line!

Four to go for 144 so I have a good chance of making it even though the next couple of weeks promise to be rather busy. Here's good reading wishes to everyone making a last push!

I would have to read about 29 more books this month to reach my goal, so I'm thinking that's my cue to lose gracefully! But best of luck to everyone who's still trying -- I'll be rooting for you!

I didn't set myself a number goal this year and so will just be logging everything I finish before the end of the year here, and everything finished after the first over at the 2013 Challenge. That said, I kinda miss the race to the finish line.

I still have 3 and a bit to go so will still be here for a while longer. 1 of those is my One Big Book> but I'm looking at cheating a little on that score.

Thanks for the support!

7> I've been "cheating" quite a bit - renaming categories to fit what I've actually been reading instead of what I thought I should be reading.

I have 16 to go. I'm listening to Across the Universe by Beth Revis on audiobook, but it's not really engrossing.

I hope everyone else is enjoying their year-end reading!

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

My Nook is frozen!!! The Fates are conspiring against me to keep me from completing my challenge! Nook Support wasn't able to help. They told me to try charging it for 3-4 hours and if it was still frozen, to get back to them. What am I supposed to be for 3-4 HOURS?

Oh darn.... can you substitute any books don't require your nook to read them?

*taking deep, calming breaths*

Chatted with customer support again. They might be able to replace my Nook with a used one. First, he told me they didn't have any of the SimpleTouch in stock at my local store. Then when I told him mine was the edition with the GlowLight and that I could go to 3 other stores to pick it up, he tells me my model has to be replaced by mail. Grrrrrrr . . . and I can give them my credit card number and they'll send the replacement right away. As if! So I have to wait for them to email me a prepaid return label, then go to the library to print it out since I don't have a printer, then send it to them and wait 1-2 weeks for them to determine if it's a factory defect or all my fault, then if it's not my fault, they'll send me a used one.

11> I do have it on my computer. I was just so annoyed earlier, I didn't even think of that! But reading sitting at the computer is not the same as reading in bed, and I have a medical condition that makes it painful to sit in one position for too long.

12> 6-7 of them are ebooks. I started reading a paperback. Now I'm "reading" 3 different books at once - the paperback, an audiobook, and the one on my Nook. And just to make things confusing, the 2 main female characters from the Nook Book and the audiobook have the same name, and 2 of the secondary characters from the Nook Book and the paperback have the same name!

Thanks for letting me vent. I might see if I can borrow a Nook from work. I'm supposed to have the day off on Monday, but this is a reading emergency! LOL. All of my library ebooks will be expired by the time the replacement gets here.

you might try marching up to you nearest B&N with the nook and screaming in front of other Nook customers. Maybe they'd replace it immediately?

That never would have crossed my mind, and that's quite a good plan. People in real stores have different (more service-oriented) incentive systems than anyone we can ever talk to on the phone....

I was in line at a B&N last week and a young man was directing customers to the next available clerks and trying to sell Nooks while we were in line. When it was my turn I just said, "Kindle." He directed me to the next clerk. They are really pushing Nooks hard.

Where's the towel? I'm ready to throw it in.

Throw away..... life is too short to bust a gut, break a sweat or endure numerous - okay, maybe 2 - sleepless nights in the attempt to complete a self imposed challenge. Personally, I think any one that attempts one of these challenges and found enjoyment/enrichment in the books they read is a winner, regardless of whether or not they reach their goal. ;-)
