Thanks everybody! And here we go...

Finished Book #1 A Clubbable Woman by Reginald Hill.

The very first Dalziel & Pascoe novel, which I'd never read before unlike most of the later books in the series. This was written in the seventies and introduces D & P as they investigate the murder of the wife of a local rugby star. An enjoyable start to a brilliant series, one I plan to catch up with in the very near future.

Go you! First book down.

My mother loves Dalziel & Pascoe on tv, but I don't think she's ever read the books. I'll recommend them to her.

Ahh, Dalziel and Pascoe! Yummie!

Finished Books #2 The Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie and #3 Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves by Matthew Reilly.

Two totally different books but both thoroughly enjoyable in their own way. As much as I enjoyed these Miss Marple short stories, I'm afraid to say that I think I prefer her in novel form.

I always look forward to new Matthew Reilly books and this one didn't disappoint. Scarecrow is badass, Mother is awesome, Bertie is the little robot that could. Five hours to save the world? No problem.

11 > I think I've got a Matthew Reilly on my TBR stack buried somewhere....

Finished Book #4 Killing Floor by Lee Child.

I probably don't have to introduce this to anyone, but the first in the Jack Reacher series and I'm a little late to the party. I did try to read another of these books some time ago and couldn't get into it, but now several years on I found Killing Floor to be an easy and appealing read. I'm looking forward to getting to the rest.

13> You might be "late to the party" but you're certainly not the last! I've got Killing Floor on my TBR stack as well, but unlike you, I haven't even started it yet.

Killing Floor nearing the top of my TBR pile. Hope to get to it soon.

I have never read anything by Lee Child, but I've heard of Reacher.

Finished Book #5 Compulsion by Jonathan Kellerman.

This has been one of my favourite series for a very long time, but it's been a few years since I last read an Alex Delaware/Milo Sturgis novel. I'm glad I've finally returned to the series.

Finished Book #6 Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brian.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would to be honest, and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it. I still couldn't tell you the difference between a mainsail and a mizzen but, hey ho.

Finished Book #7 Fer-de-lance by Rex Stout.

A comfort read. The Nero Wolfe books are one of my very favourite series of books and I always love returning to them and their quirky characters, sarcastic humour and clever word-play, whether it is one I've read several times before or one I've never read. Brilliant.

Finished Book #8 Open Season by C. J. Box.

Finally, I've finished a book. I haven't been reading as much as I would like in the last couple of months, but this was an enjoyable and suspenseful series opener to hopefully get me back into the swing of things. I have the second in this series waiting on my shelves (on my kindle) and I intend to get around to it soon.

Finished Book #9 The Janus Stone by Elly Griffiths.

This is book 2 in the Ruth Galloway series, and I'm looking forward to the next one (which I don't actually own yet). Love the characters, and when I thought I had it all figured out I soon had the rug pulled out from under me.

Finished Book #10 The Warrior Queens by Antonia Fraser.

Very fascinating book that made me want to read more about the 'warrior women' she included. That means more books added to my to read pile in the near future I'm afraid.

Finished Book #11 A Monstrous Regiment of Women by Laurie R. King.

I was pretty sure I had read this one before, quite a few years ago, but it didn't ring any bells so I must have mistaken it for another book in the series (or blanked it out completely the first time round for some inexplicable reason). Looking forward to the next one.

Finished Book #12 Stalking the Angel by Robert Crais.

Read while on holiday this is the second novel featuring Elvis Cole - the fearless, wisecracking Los Angeles private detective with a big heart and his sociopath sidekick, Joe Pike. I love the humour in this series, but I didn't like this one quite as much as the first.

Finished Book #13 The Crow Trap by Ann Cleeves.

An interesting debut for Vera Stanhope, particularly as she doesn't really show up until two thirds of the way through the book. Vera is an interesting copper, not like many others I've read about (although she brings to mind Andy Dalziel from Reginald Hill's novels) and I really liked the way the story built up, told from the point of view of three different characters.

Finished Book #14 Hard Landing by Stephen Leather.

This was the book I started reading on the plane on the way home from my holiday. The plot, and the character, grabbed my attention and it was hard to put down, unfortunately I had to get off the plane eventually and so this was put on hold for little while. I'm glad I finally got back to it though, this is a fast paced story, easy to follow and keeps your interest levels engaged until the end. I'm looking forward to reading more.

Finished Book #15 The Religion: A Novel by Tim Willocks.

This book is brutal, it's bloody and gory and pretty disgusting, but if you're not too squeamish I recommend it. The Religion is a fast-paced, intense, beautifully crafted, captivating story that will leave you wanting more.

Wow, I've only made it halfway to my goal and it's almost the end of the year. Must do better in 2014.
