I got a couple of Christopher Nyerges titles from the library.
Extreme Simplicity is an easy read, and kinda cozy. It's like trading stories with a neighbor. They (Christopher and Dolores) are do-it-yourselfers, so the projects they describe make a lot of sense for low income, low-techs like me.

Guide to Wild Foods and Useful Plants seems more useful to west-coast readers, as many of the plants are not found in my part of the country. The philosophy he expresses is admirable: even a plant like poison oak contributes to our oxygen supply. I'll have to try forcing Chicory leaves this winter.

This week, I'm browsing several green roof books. My grandchildren want to build a hobbit-like structure on my property, and we will probably use this technique, modified for our very low technology and resources. I have scrap metal roofing which we will probably use, and perhaps create a colored bottle skylight in some fashion. The oldest is coming out with me this weekend to begin clearing the site.

I've read and reviewed Green Roofs and Rooftop Gardens and browsed Planting Green Roofs and Living Walls by Nigel Dunnett, but I plan to spend the most time enjoying Dunnett's Small Green Roofs : low-tech options for greener living.
