2/3 of the year is gone and we are just barely passed the halfway mark, so we have some work to do.
So lets think of September as a "back to school/work" directive and try to get some of our ROOTs read this month.

So, let's keep these tickers (password ROOT) moving with everyone adding their progress to the comprehensive goal for all of us. We need to have a total of 4,062 (75%) by the end of SEPTEMBER to stay on track. We can do it!
Any members who signed up with a personal goal and have yet to read one ROOT, have been removed from the general totals to a separate list. The group tickers have been adjusted to reflect this change.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ticker thread (http://www.librarything.com/topic/148710) is a
huge help in crunching the end of month numbers so if you haven't already posted your ticker there, please do! if there is a * by your name, it indicates there is a ticker on your thread but not on the ticker thread and a & indicates no ticker. This just tells me where I need to go to get the numbers that are not on the ticker thread. I try to keep up on the personal threads during the month, so having to revisit to gather numbers can be a bit time consuming if the system is slow. Any help is appreciated. So if you have a ticker made already , please think about copying the HTML to the ticker thread.
Thanks for your help!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So, now, Ladies and Gentlemen, BOOKLOVERS - get back out there and read those BOOKS!

Here are the individual numbers so far. Several members reached their goals this month - them we applaud. Please let me know if I need to update anyone. I had a few personal threads I couldn't locate for those not on the ticker thread, so I think I need to find them.

Sorry, Cheli. I've only reached 32 ROOTS so far this year. I need another 3. September might just be the month I do it.

Another added today for me, just missing the August thread by a few pages that I finished just now. I've now read 38 out of my goal of 50. With 12 to go, I know I can do it. Maybe I'll even pass my goal! I've updated the tickers.

Sept. 1, 2013, 2:01 pm

I've been reading a new book that is a huge tome (2700 pages) so maybe after I can finally get to some ROOTs!

Oh, and cyderry, "congratulations" has a "T" in it. Although I think "congraulations" is pretty cute.

9connie53
Sept. 1, 2013, 2:04 pm

2700 pages!

10lilisin
Sept. 1, 2013, 2:07 pm

It's actually been really easy to read. It'll only take me a month and a half to finish it as I'm already on the third tome (each tome is 900 pages so it doesn't feel long). Plus it's the third book of the d'Artagnan series (The Three Musqueteers characters) so it's an easy read. A real page-turner! I easily read 100 pages at once every time.

11cyderry
Sept. 1, 2013, 2:46 pm

FYI - the T on my keyboard sometimes sticks and if I get to typing too fast, I don't notice that the T is missing. :-)

I'm now up to 20, but never can remember when/if I've updated any tickers other than my own . . . sorry, but my three tickers are all I can keep up with right now . . . Here's the one for this group:

Apologies if this group has a separate ticker thread, I can never remember that either . . .

I've been doing more cataloging than reading lately . . . so may not hit my goal of 50 . . . but am happy to report that 99% of my cataloging is DONE! ( I'm not saying 100% because everytime I think I'm done, I find some more books . . . in the basement, or a closet, or . . . :) My home shelves contain nearly 2000 books, with about 300 more in my catalog (read from library, read and gave away, wishlist, etc.) . . . Now that the books are cataloged, I'm going to try to start getting rid of as many as possible . . . (hoping to be moving sometime in the next year or so).

I did the same thing a year ago. (moved) I moved a total of 864 books from one place to another. Then I purchased new book shelves. Seven of them. I have a couple of ROOTs in progress, but I think they are going to be finished in October -- which should be a good month, as I have a bunch of ROOTs in my planned reading. Consider me done for September with 7 this month, 50 (towards a goal of 60) for the year. I think I've updated all the tickers for all of them.

Not such a good month for me, only 6 ROOTS completed, I've updated my ticker. Hopefully October will be an easier month.

Chalked up two more this month: Dissolution and The Passion of Artemesia, my V read. TPoA has been on my book shelf for ages! off to update.

Just posed number #31 on my thread! Love and Louis XIV by Antonia Fraser.

I read 1 ROOT in September for a total of 17 out of 20. My ticker has been updated, but I haven't touched any group tickers.

I read 7 this month for a total of 51 for the year! That is 11 over my initial goal of 40!

I amended/extended my goal when I hit 40 in August but, for the sake of the overall group progress, I'm changing it back to the original number. Hope that doesn't create problems!

I finished 3 old roots out of my collection this month. I am ticker-less as well so you will have to change the group ticker for me. I hope to do better next month.

I was unable to complete my nearly 800 page Tome that I was reading for September so no need for me to update any tickers as I have moved The Invisible Bridge from September to October & I will attempt no library books but read from my shelves for this coming month. I want to get my numbers up.
