Steampunk ! (Derigibles, Goggles and Cool Hats!) Group Read

Calling all wannabe steampunkers. November is Steampunk month!

Love the picture! I am looking forward to this group read. I will be reading Steampunk Voyages: Around the World in Six Gears, and may find time to add another book during the month.

According to the group page, December is Steampunk month. I wouldn't mind November instead though. Maybe I'll find some things to fill in my last few categories.

I had it down for December too! Otherwise I probably would've waited a few weeks for my last read. Looks like that didn't turn out well on another level now.

I'd also thought it was December. I'll try to squeeze in one or two books for November, but I'm going to attempt NaNoWriMo again this year, so I won't have as much time for reading. Any objections to having a two-month steampunk read, so we can do both November and December? :)

I have several "next in the series" books I'd like to get to, including Behemoth and Clockwork Princess. Also, our local bookstore's steampunk book-club will be doing 20000 Leagues Under the Sea in November. I'm not sure if this really counts as steampunk; perhaps it's better classified as one of the books that influenced steampunk. In January, it's doing Anubis Gates, so I'm planning to read that one in December.

Well, we can always do it both November and December! And Yeah, I'm doing NaNoWriMo too, so not sure how much I'll get read either.

I have no problem doing November & December, but not sure how many books I'll actually get to read. I have an ER copy of The Clockwork Scarab here.

I have Gail Carriger's Curtsies & Conspiracies on hold from the library, which will definitely count as steampunk! As another NaNoWriMo participant, I'd also like November AND December for this group read/theme.

I am all for having a steampunk November AND December!

I finished Steampunk Voyages yesterday between naps as I battle a head cold. Overall, it was an enjoyable collection of stories, some better than others and one book excerpt that did catch my interest. Full review can be found on the book page or on my thread here

I finished God Save the Queen. Not the best book ever, but it certainly created an interesting steampunk world, complete with vamps, werewolves and, uhm, something quite else.

I have the book borrowed from the library. Love the back cover - "Keep Calm and Pray for Dawn."

Yesterday I finished Curtsies & Conspiracies by Gail Carriger, which is a fun steampunk romp about a finishing school located on a dirigible. If you enjoy books with a fair amount of silliness, I'd recommend this series (the first book is Etiquette & Espionage).

Missed this until now & I have a steampunk category!

May I humbly recommend http://www.librarything.com/work/14447731/book/103600023 which is the book I helped put together in October, all proceeds from the sales of this book go to the Bristol Festival of Literature (a not for profit organisation) & it's cheap as chips :-)

Right I'd better squeeze a steampunk read in the next 9 days!

Finished Blameless by Gail Carriger this evening. Either I have hit the 'middle of a series' doldrums or Carriger has. I didn't like this one as much as the two previous books in the series..... it seems to be missing something.

I'm currently reading Phoenix Rising by Pip Ballantine. It could have used a lot of editing in the first couple of chapters, and some words are miss used, but now that I'm into the story it is cute and interesting steampunk.
