It was certainly a nice read, but I'm not sure he really said anything.

Die Bibel - übersetzt in gerechte Sprache? : Grundlagen einer neuen Übersetzung

Beeton's Book of Needlework
My review is more a few notes of my reactions while reading this. In general, it is interesting to read through, but I don't want to try any of the patterns.

The killer angels
I'm amazed. A novel that only covers the time of one battle, and it stays interesting.

The crochet answer book
I'm a bit disappointed. I didn't think it lived up to what I expected. Reviewed.

Punch cartoons of the great war
I didn't find these very interesting. They probably had a lot more appeal in 1915. Review.

Wir sind alle Neandertaler
Some of this was fun, but in the basic sentence 'We do A today because our ancesters did B.' I often doubted A, did not always see a relationship between A and B, and very often thought that, actually we probably do A for the same reasons that our ancesters did B, and would even if they hadn't. Seeing the small amount of Neanderthal DNA in modern Europeans, the very title shows how unreliable the book must be.

The male/female cliches he uses in the final chapters do not agree with my experience.

Die Höhlenkinder im Heimlichen Grund
an interesting book in the Robinson Crusoe tradition, but here, two Austrian children in the 17th century have to survive in a wilderness valley with no supplies and no adult help. As you would expect, as times the long explanations of how they do this seem rather unlikely. (Also very longwinded at times.)

Getanzte Schöpfung
This is the catalogue to the current exhibit at the Welt Museum in Vienna.

Die Höhlenkinder Im Pfahlbau
It gets less and less realistic as the children figure out how to make copper, bronze and iron. Not to mention fairly advanced looms ...
