Holy Scripture

Apparently almost every religious scripture, no matter what religion its from, including the Bible, "the best selling book of all time," is banned somewhere in the world. I wonder what the Christian fundies trying to ban classic literature like Fahrenheit 451 think of that? Next time I run into one of these people, I think I'll tell them that they read a banned book every day, I can't even imagine the classic look on their face.

Like we "fundies" aren't keenly aware of this?

Is there much in the good book about propagating persecution?

Hi Jesse, yeah now that you mention it, quite a bit is said about propagating persecution, particularly that it will occur and that it will be judged.

For example, it is promised repeatedly that the Jewish people will be persecuted unlike any other, dispersed throughout the world, made a byword and barely excape total extinction (of course, ultimately they will be restored to great blessing), but sure enough this has happened. So yesterday (7/16) President Bush, of the divestment-from-the-nation-of-Israel-only espousing United Methodist Church, announced $190 million for anti-Israel terrorists Fatah and a multi-national peace conference to give the Jew-hating terrorists a "political horizon" for more territorial concessions ("West Bank" and Jerusalem) from the Jewish state roughly the size of tiny New Jersey. What does the Bible say about our government being complicit in propagatin this genocidal persecution? Among many other things:

"...I will contend with them over My very own people, Israel, which they scattered among the nations. For they divided My land..."

"In that day, I will make Jerusalem a stone for all the peoples to lift; all who lift it shall injure themselves..."

"As for those peoples that warred against Jerusalem, the LORD will smite them with this plague: Their flesh shall rot away while they stand on their feet; their eyes shall rot away in their sockets; and their tongues shall rot away in their mouths."

In order to put off this promised judgment upon our nation for such persecution, I encourage everyone to try to forestall this appeasement of terrorists who openly acknowledge their goal is the utter extinction of Jews by prayer and by contacting Bush and Condoleeza Rice, daughter and granddaughter of ministers within the anti-Israel Presbyterian denomination. (p.s., along with the $190 million, Israel's agreed to let out 250 or so Fatah terrorists from jail and to give amnesty to 150 others in hiding if they sign a paper to not engage in terrorism for...and this is not a joke...for 3 months).

ETA: to avoid total drifting off topic, some of the chief parts of the banned Good Book that deal with this are the books of Deuteronomy, Daniel, Ezekiel, and Zechariah. For a foundation, I'd start with a solid but very basic commentary on Daniel (the book of Revelation is largely based on Daniel, btw), such as The Most High God by Renald Showers. And for a very current (just out March 2007) and biblical analysis of the international assault against Israel, the Palestinian situation, as well as Jewish-Christian relations and the history of persecution against the Jews: For the Love of Zion by Elwood McQuaid of Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry.
