fuzzi is in the area for a conference, the two of us arranged a Meet Up and it occurred to me to open it up to other fine folks, too.

We'll meet at Salt & Pepper Books, a cook book store at 6:30, it is only open until 7 so if you want to browse longer, you'll probably want to arrive earlier.

The web site for the book store is not yet set up, however, it just moved from Occoquon, VA if you are looking for more information, there are reviews on the web. Salt & Pepper Books 171 American Way, National Harbor, MD 20745, 301-839-1849

Then we'll eat at Elevation Burger, 108 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD 20745, 301-749-4014, two blocks away.

The Fleet garage is the closest, Elevation Burger is on the Waterfront side of it.

Afterwards, I plan to head to Peeps & Company and then walk over to the Gaylord for the fountain/light/music show.

So far it is fuzzi with husband, MDGentleReader and possibly, johnkerr (account not set up properly yet).

Unfortunately, it is NOT Metro train accessible.

http://nationalharbor.com/ has lots of information about the area.

Thanks for adding this. It's my second Meetup, the first was in 2013 with majkia. :)

Mind if I join you? mrsdrneutron is off to a quilt festival that week, so I'm on my own.

...and I just realized what MDGentleReader said...we're going to a candy store. Yum!

In 2009, Just Born, Inc., maker of PEEPS®, MIKE AND IKE®, HOT TAMALES®, TEENEE BEANEE® and GOLDENBERG'S PEANUT CHEWS® brand candies, opened its first retail store named PEEPS & COMPANY®.
The retail store is located at the banks of the Potomac, minutes from Washington D.C. at the very center of National Harbor's dynamic main plaza. The store's location is at a converging point for residents and thousands of visitors arriving by bus, car, and ferries, which dock at the piers in front of the store.

It will be kind of chilly when we do sightseeing tomorrow. I brought my woolen scarf. :)

Well, we all made it for the meetup: me, MDGentleReader, johnkerr, drneutron, and my dh, Ron.

It was really, really cold on the waterfront. The wind was so strong, it was literally pushing us down the street.

Salt & Pepper Books was closed. :(

As planned, we ate at Elevation Burger, and stopped by the Peep place, and then watched the water show.

It was a nice meetup, and I hope to do it again, under warmer conditions! ;)

The bad news:
The bookstore we had planned to visit was closed, despite their assurances that they'd be open.
The burger place had no French fries or tomatoes. ?!?
It was bitterly cold and very windy.

The good news:
The company was great.
I enjoyed my food despite my envy of Jim's black cherry chocolate shake. Next time...
I was mesmerized by the fountain/light/music show at the Gaylord hotel. I think I enjoyed it more than the others, but hopefully everyone enjoyed it some. There are videos on YouTube if folks want to see it in motion.
The Peeps & company store is always fun.
It was great to meet folks in person.

I have videos of the light show. A friend of mine who is a music "buff" has identified most of the music played during the show. Once I get them all, I'll try to upload them, somewhere...

...we had a good time, too, and enjoyed the company. :)
