Any sled dog fans here? My guess is ... probably not.
It is deep into the racing season. Preps and qualifiers have been run, as well as the Yukon Quest. The Iditarod starts this weekend.

I love books about sled dogs, like Silver Chief and Kazan, but have never seen the Iditarod...only heard about it.

We have a sled dog race here every year (The Canadian Open), and I'm usually there running a food booth for the x-c ski club. They are short races compared to the Iditarod or Yukon Quest (longest is about 24 miles). I love watching the dogs!
Edited to add - most of the dogs in the shorter races are not pure husky, they are cross-bred for speed, Huskies are bred more for endurance and tend to overheat in the sprint races.
