I finally finished it. I can't say I enjoyed it that much. The first part was pretty good, as Hester raises her child. I thought Dimsdale got off light (he has to live with guilt, big deal). I thought the ending improbable, even for the time period and as melodramatic as a bad gothic novel. I actually felt the most sympathy for the "bad guy" of the story.
