Apparently, you don't have to know how to write to get an advanced degree these days:

One of my cats, Rory Pond-Starchak, has a Linked-In profile. Part of my husband's plot to show how easy it is to fake credentials. I would not allow him to spend money buying Rory a degree, though.

It will be interesting to see the kind of network that Rory develops from being on LinkedIn. Will it be animal lovers? Other non humans? Or investment and business types of all species? I will go look him up.

ETA: quite an impressive skill set!

>2 tardis:,

I always thought that AMY was the smart, pushy one

Yes, Rory was the 'Good looking' front man and was the one (unlike Amy) who would probably need to buy a degree.

May I suggest you buy Rory a BA. But get AMY a PhD.

It will just save time for her :-)

ETA. I don't know what LinkedIn is? Is it worth looking at?

Guido.

ETA2. Well it looks like 'LinkedIn' looks like a Facebookish thingy.
Could you "please" (with butter on it) show me a link to "Rory's" profile?

Guido.

Hi Guido, "LinkedIn" is a social media platform (like Facebook or MySpace) but unlike those social media, it originally was supposed to be for job-related networking. I don't know if it actually works very effectively for that purpose for most of the people on it.

It's not a picture of Rory. My husband couldn't be bothered photoshopping a real photo of Rory onto a suit.

As anna_in_pdx says, LinkedIn is supposed to be for professional networking (as opposed to social networking, like Facebook). Some people seem to get a lot of value out of it. For me, the jury is still out.

LinkedIn is yet another of those irritants that get in the way of reading/playing with your cat. I did try to connect with Rory, but was firmly told that he 'wasn't part of my network' so I couldn't. Chiz!

>7 Zambaco: I don't get the "network" thing - LinkedIn can be weird. Oh, well. I doubt he'll be doing anything exciting. His Facebook posts tend to be "Slept on the windowsill for 4 hours. Think I'll have a poop now" because that's what my husband (who types for him) thinks Facebook is for.

I am now connected to Rory! Yay!

LinkedIn can be good if you are looking for a job, but I don't know anybody who actually got a job through it. I'm retired now, so it mostly annoys me! It is nice to reconnect with people from past jobs and so forth. It isn't fluff like Facebook; more serious in nature.

Fluff?? Surely you don't think that hundreds of cat pictures and invitations to play games and "surveys" is just fluff!

I stand corrected! ;-)
