I've copied this from cbc.ca/books:

We're looking for books for Canada Reads 2015! Do you have a suggestion for a book that will break barriers? We're looking for books that will help us understand and overcome the things that divide us, in families, in and between communities, and at large.

I'm off to contemplate my suggestion(s)....what would you suggest?

ETA: I suggested Monoceros by Suzette Mayr, which deals with youth suicide and bullying.

Here's the long list and your chance to vote: http://www.cbc.ca/books/canadareads2015vote/index.html

The only one I've read is Ru which I thought was very well written but also rather boring and did nothing for me. But maybe someone will talk it up and I'll change my mind about it.

I'm looking forward to All My Puny Sorrows, and I expect the Thomas King to be rather good, but otherwise I'm drawing a blank on these.

thanx, Nickelini. I will definitely vote for For Today I Am a Boy which I thought was a wonderful look at how others react to transgendered people.
