Has anyone read anything about How Quakers Invented America by David Yount, due to be published (released) on Aug 25? I would think that some people will find the title incredibly arrogant, though no doubt Quakers did have a great influence in comparison to their numbers.

Interesting. I recently found out that an old college friend, Bill Offutt, published a book called Of Good Laws and Good Men, which "reveals how a Quaker minority in the Delaware Valley used the law to its own advantage yet maintained the legitimacy of its rule." I'll have to see what he's got to say.

What a truly terrible book. The title, which I found quite enticing, seemed to really only refer to the introduction and first couple of chapters, which Yount freely admitted were influenced by a truly stupendous history book, "Albion's Seed: Four British Folkways in America" (1989, Oxford UP) by David Hackett Fischer. which I highly recommend!!
The book is poorly written (e.g. run-on sentences) and full of inaccuracies. How shameful that a trade publishing house chose to publish this!
