I'm in again in 2015!

In 2014 I set a goal of 20 ROOTs. I managed to read 12, but discarded another 14 books, so I managed 26 ROOTs altogether, for the first time surpassing my goal!
In 2015 we expect some addition to our family in January. Therefore I don't know how much I will be able to concentrate on reading and reduce my goal to only 12 books.

Rules: I'll count all books that entered my shelves before January 1st, 2015. I am not going to count re-reads. But I will count books read in another language before.

ETA: To make things easier I decided to record all my reading here instead of starting a thread at the 50 Book Challenge as well. So it's probably going to be a little longer list this year.

Books I want to read this year:
Bhagavad-Gita as it is
Über den Umgang mit Menschen
Das Elternbuch
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Roots are indicated bold and with numbers in front. All other books are borrowed or rereads.

>2 Ameise1: Thank you. Everything is fine. Im staying home now, but there is still much to do and for some reason I don't feel like reading my own books at the moment. So I'm rather reading some borrowed books currently. We expect our little girl end of January. Maybe in early January I will be able to tackle some ROOTs. :-)

Oh yes, a little one can really mess up your reading time :-) My life has been turned upside down these past 5 weeks and I don't think I will make my goal this year.

What happened in your life? I couldn't finden a hint on the other threads. Are you going to participate in ROOTs again in 2015?

I have a 5 week old son who is keeping me busy. I posted my goal for next year in the sign up three but haven't had time yet to set up my own. I also need to update my three for this year at some point.

So dar this year I managed to read quite a lot, but no ROOTs. Somehow my own books do not appeal to me right now. I have quite a couple of books checked out from the library still. Sorry to let the group down, I hope that in due time I will read some ROOTs.

16Tess_W
Mrz. 22, 2015, 7:48 am

It happens! I'm sure the group would agree, you need to read what you enjoy!

17Jackie_K
Mrz. 22, 2015, 8:12 am

Plus don't forget you have another little person taking a lot of your time! Just come back when you're ready, no doubt we'll still be here! (the TBR pile will definitely still be here!!).

18connie53
Mrz. 24, 2015, 1:56 pm

ROOTs will come when it's time, Tallulah. Al long as you read what you enjoy and maybe need right now. We will be here!

Hi there, I've dropped out of LT the last month for soo many private things going on. I still haven't manged to read any TBR but we sorted out some books and so I discarded a few, I will not be going to read any time soon. So that means I brought 9 ROOTs to the challenge.

20Tess_W

Here's hoping you can sneak in some reading time for yourself!

Nov. 22, 2015, 3:02 am

I'm so glad to see you back, Tallulah. I hope the private things are not bad things and If they are I hope they will be dealt with soon. And I hope you will have some reading time!

22Tallulah_Rose
Nov. 23, 2015, 5:54 am

>20 Tess_W: an >21 connie53: Thank you both! I had quite a lot of reading time the first half of the year, just no ROOT books appealed to me unfortunately. Now I have just not the right mind to read anything. An no, the private things are not bad at all, it is just so many things to do and the little one needs attention and some things that have been delayed for quite a while ando on and so on... ;) I hope that I will have everything fixed up soon and get some more reading done before the end of the year!

23connie53
Nov. 23, 2015, 1:53 pm

>22 Tallulah_Rose: As long as they are good things! Reading will come back. Just enjoy your little one while she is still little. You can read your books any time, but you can't keep your daughter little!

Nov. 23, 2015, 1:59 pm

>23 connie53: Oh Connie that is so very true! My daughter is 2 this week (she was about 1 month old when I joined the 2014 ROOT group), and I can't believe how grown up she is! We are still reading together though! (although she turns over several pages at a time so it's not usually the full story she gets!)

25connie53
Nov. 23, 2015, 2:01 pm

As long as she learns to like books, she can turn as many pages as she wants! She will get the story in time!

26Jackie_K
Nov. 24, 2015, 8:05 am

Yes exactly! I figure as long as she is learning to love books then that is the main thing! There are particular books that she specifically asks for, already! (she'll call them things like "baby book" or "elephant book", but we know what she means!).

It so funny the way little kids talk and mothers understand them no matter how they say it. I remember when Jeroen was 1,5 year old. We went on vacation and Jeroen stayed with my sister and her (now) husband. I wrote down words he used, so my sister could understand what he was asking for or talking about.

Yes, I love how we have been able to 'tune in' to her language. Occasionally there are words that stump us (she says 'fuffun' a lot, it took us ages to realise she was meaning 'that one'), but she is getting clearer and clearer. Today she was pointing at the book pile on the table and saying 'ow book', it took me a few seconds but then I realised she meant "That's not my Owl" (no touchstone but here's the amazon link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thats-Not-Owl-Fiona-Watt/dp/1409587584/ ) which she got as a present earlier this week.

30Tallulah_Rose
Dez. 4, 2015, 3:03 pm

wow that really is cute! I can't await to see how my little one is turning out. She is now 10months old and already so "grown up". She ist pulling herself up amd stand and even tries a few steps. And she loooves books. Wherever we are she finds them. And at home she has her own little shelf at the bottom of the living room with some of her books. Ebery now and then she takes up one or two and tries turning the pages, looking at the pictures etc. It is so amazing!

31Tallulah_Rose
Dez. 4, 2015, 3:10 pm

It just turned out I forgot one book I discharged earlier, so I am now at 10 out of 12 ROOTs!

32connie53
Dez. 5, 2015, 11:34 am

You can do it, I'm sure. Just two more!

>30 Tallulah_Rose: Ahhhh, that's great. She must have her love for books from you!

33Tallulah_Rose
Dez. 5, 2015, 1:47 pm

>32 connie53: Or probably because they are to be seen the whole time in the living room, where we ware most, and also she had a few in her room, even before she was born. 😉 I hope it keeps until she gehts older.

As to the ROOTs: I started a book yesterday, Yeah me! It was no ROOT as such since I only boight it this year, but nevertheless one of my own books. Maybe I'll reach my goal by the end of the year...
