I've learned a lot on my own in the last few weeks, but I have some questions about scanning black and white images into my graphics software.

I am using Manga Studio Debut 3, which allows me to create comics panels and edit art as with Photoshop. What I'd like to do is paint my panel images individually by hand using black ink/gouache to near print readiness, scan them individually and import them one by one into the panels I've created with Manga Studio.

If my final image resolution (print ready) for a comics page is 1200 dpi, at what resolution should I be scanning the black and white images? I don't imagine I'd be scanning at 1200 dpi. Would 300 dpi be enough for me to work with?

I'm thinking 1200 dpi for printready is pretty fine. I'm also thinking you need to scan at a higher resolution (1.5 - 2 times) than you are going to output to. So scan at 1200 for 600 dpi output. I'd have to read up to be sure about it, though.

Good luck.
