Would it be possible to put put one of your cute little green check marks next to authors listed in "On This Day" indicating that I have that author in my library?

Though these are not marked in any way, they are merely preferentially selected. I use that feature, and not all names in the list on any given day necessarily are from my catalogue.
It would be useful to have both types of authors marked when they appear: those that appear in your catalogue, and those indicated as "Favourite Authors" (which are not necessarily the same).

It's me again. Still looking for a cute little green mark next to authors listed in "On This Day" indicating I have that author in my library. Can we do this?
5Doondeck
I'm still here and waiting for that little green mark. It's been six months. Please answer me; I feel so alone! Can you at least tell me why my request can't be accommodated>

I'm still here and still very lonely. Can somebody put a little green mark next to authors listed in "On This Day" indicating I have that author in my library? It can't be that hard to do. I have been waiting for an answer for nearly 15 months. Do I need to put a note in a bottle? Please help.

This could take years for them to even look at. You might want to continue exploring and see what else is of interest.

>6 Doondeck: If you search Talk, you might be able to find the old threads on this topic. As I recall the explanation, On This Day is generated separately from the user libraries. The code doesn't allow for finding out whether individuals have the books.

>10 Doondeck: Actually, no. The only thing you're entitled to is being able to make the request. They are not obligated to answer you. Ever.

I know that I keep pestering and sometimes incurring the wrath of some of my fellow librarythingers, but I going to ask again. In the "On This Day" section, could you please put an indication which authors I have in my catalog.
14lorax
It's not the bumping every six months that bothered people, it was the whining about why you weren't getting attention.
15PhaedraB
It has been explained elsewhere that there is no way to link On This Day to your library. It is generated completely separately. So, yes, nice, but possible, no.
17Doondeck
When I click on an author in the birthday or death day list, up pops the author's page with a statement of how many of his books are in my collection and a nice little check to each of these books. Can't they simply reverse the process?

>17 Doondeck: What seems simple to you is not necessarily simple on the back end.
Your question has been answered on other threads. And answered by me, twice, in >9 PhaedraB: and >15 PhaedraB:.
Rather than bumping the thread and complaining that no one answers you, you might want to search talk to find the answer that has already been given by TPTB. Which has been suggested to you previously but which you have apparently chosen not to do.
Go ahead and keep bumping the thread. But what's that saying about doing the same exact thing over and over but expecting a different result?

In settings for "On This Day", one can choose prefer your authors. Can they add an option to show only my authors?
20PhaedraB
>19 Doondeck: I dunno, why don't you search Talk to see if they answered it somewhere else?
21Doondeck
Despite risking the ire of some of my fellow LibraryThingers, I would like to ask once again if it is possible to show which of the authors listed in "On This Day" are in my collection. A small green check mark would be ideal but I would also appreciate an option to show only my authors on the list.
22lorax
It is, in fact, a good suggestion. What raised ire earlier was not the suggestion itself, but your entitled tone.
23Doondeck
Having abandoned any sense of entitlement I may have had, I ask politely if you would please indicate in some way which of the authors listed in "On This Day" are included in my collections.
Thank you

Every six months or so, I resubmit my request to indicate in some way which of the authors listed in "On This Day" are included in my collections.

I'm going to try this again after asking the same question for nearly four years. Can you please indicate in the "On This Day" section which of the authors listed are in my collections or can you limit the authors listed to only those in my collection? If so, would you please do it.
Patience should have its reward.

>26 Doondeck: It's been answered over and over again. No. There is no way to connect that feature with your library.
28Doondeck
Then how do you account for the preference in settings that says "Prefer authors you have" if the system has no way to connect with my library? How about when I click on an author listed in On This Day, I'm directed to that author's page which has a check mark next to each of the author's works included in my collection?
29lorax
You misunderstand; what PhaedraB meant is that, currently, there is no way to get checkmarks to appear and, currently, this request has not been prioritized.
It happens to all of us. Start bumping it every six months or so - with a simple "Bump", not with an entitled-sounding whine about how patience ought to be rewarded - just like all the rest of us who have things we've wanted for years.
