Have you, as a player, used props in your game? What are some of the best you've seen?

My group has been playing a modified Deadlands campaign as of late. In the game, we've started in a town that became a walking zombie town and have had to move on towards Santa Fe. The GM, in all his infinite wisdom, started in a town called Golden, which is, apparently, a real ghost town in our world. Neat touch, eh?

In any case, I'm running a huckster. For those who aren't familiar with Deadlands, these are the wizards/sorcerers of the Weird West. The hucksters learn their spells by poking around a Book of Hoyle and deciphering the arcane knowledge hidden in there. By coincidence, I actually have a modern paperback of Hoyle's in my library, so I brought it to the last game which earned much squeeing by the GM. In a fit of syncrhonicity, I decided I wanted an older looking book to bring to the game, so I went and purchased an old used hardcover copy of Hoyle's cheap from Amazon. By coincidence, my character found a fourth edition of Hoyle's (in the game, they are up to 6th edition and the older the copy you can find, the better your bonus spells) during an encounter with a big bad, so I'll have an older copy of Hoyle's to bring to the game at the same time as having found an older copy in the game. Just thought that was neat.

I have a 1939 copy of Hoyle's Official rules of card games. You want it?

Propalways seem to add more to any game. I will give my players extras for bringiing props that fit.

I would love to use props, but everyone I know is over 35 and too busy with babies to get creative in their gaming. One day we will have to try this, probably when we get the babies gaming in about 10 years.
