volusia county is the most inexpensive book buyers paradise i've run across! in DeLand, there are no less than five stores: (1) the Family Book Store (about an acre of books of all kinds, mostly used); (3) The Muse (well kept classics and antiquarian books), Patty's paperbacks (how she stays in business i'll never know!) She charges but half of the cover price, which means if you find an old MacDonald, Shell Scott, Zane Grey, you''ll pick it up for under $1. (4) Cliff's Books, a hideaway book store on the Boulevard where anything and everything is sold and (5) Half-Off Books, a new store with only top grade used books, and an eclectic inventory!)

In Daytona Beach, there are two used stores that have tons of books -- Victor Newman's MANDALA BOOKS and ABRAXUS on Beach Street. Of course, in the mall there are the standard chains -- Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and the littler ones, whose names escape me since I never buy there.

The wealth of thrift stores average a few hundred books, with Our Father's Closet in DeLand having the most for choice and they move the most, too. They buy whole collections and you'd better stop by twice a month because they move them faster than any bookstore I've ever seen.
