Beta Readers?

I'm looking for some brave/kind soul(s) to beta read my WIP, Girl On Fire.

Obviously you can tell from the title that there are dragons in it :) There are also some dark themes and graphic sexual content so beta beware.

Right now it is unfinished (about halfway done at 65K) but I'd love to start getting some feedback. I'd be happy to return the favor if anyone wants to swap.

Really? I'd have thought it was about an arsonist, or Joan of Arc. I'd never have thought "dragons".

Yeah, I wouldn't start beta testing a book if it isn't finished. Too much could change by the time it is finished.

Now, this is just what I have learned, and it may not be how everyone does it, but usually there's a first completed draft, an author edit/full read-through, alpha readers (meant to find plot holes, inconsistencies, etc.), then another round of edits, then beta readers (for the nitpicky stuff), another round of edits, then submission.

Girl on Fire brings to mind Hunger Games to me... :( Because that phrase is attached to that franchise, you might want to rethink it a bit.

When you get your draft ready for beta readers, let me know. I'm interested in a swap.

My "fee" is a positive or negative review of my work. I have to mention a fee. It's complicated.

Trading reviews is still payment, just payment in kind. It isn't complicated. It just doesn't fit in with LT, is all.

Paid reviews are not allowed on LT.

It would be better to say "trade reviews."

I realize that, but I must actively "seek work" for unemployment compensation, although I haven't seen so much as a dime from them. I am waiting for a disability appeal = complicated.

And I don't want anyone to review a manuscript. I want them to say, "she was/was not a helpful beta reader. Nothing more.

I'm sorry, but offering to beta read for somebody is not "seeking work."
