Hi I just joined your group. I live in Vancouver B.C. I have two cat chldren, Maxi who is 4 years old (just had his birthday) and Misty who is 2 years old.

I rescued Maxi when he was a few weeks old from an outdoor freezer that someone put he and his siblings in when I lived on the prairies and I adopted Misty from an organization here called VOKRA that rescues cats and kittens. She was born in a foster home from a TNR feral cat but I adopted her as soon as she was ready. I love my cats to bits!

Maxi

Misty

I never pass up an opportunity to brag about my cats or show their pictures and I'm sure you don't either lol. Can you post pictures of your cats here for everyone to see? Please tell me something about your cats. Do they let you read or do they lay over your book lol?

Welcome to the cat group, BookAddict!

There is a way to actually have the pictures show up in your post. You need to use img src tags. I will try to find the instructions (I have them saved on one of my cat pictures so I don't forget) :)

3anna_in_pdx
Bearbeitet: Mai 31, 2016, 1:43 pm

OK, you use the following HTML code
use the left and right carets instead of brackets to post pictures {img src="filename"/}

You get the filename of the picture by right clicking on it and copying its name from "properties"

Let me try:

this is my youngest cat, Apollo, it's taken about a year ago when he was about a year and a half old

If you look at the picture in my profile, that's my Eddie. He's my cuddle buddy. :)

Your baby is really cute! As you can tell I love tuxedos :)

I tried to do what you said about inserting the photo but I don't see properties. I see this.....

I found out how though from davidgn so he sent me here and this worked :)

This is Eddie and his siblings when they were very young. :) Of the five you see, we still have the far left (that's Alex), the middle with the orange stripe on her face (that's Blaze), and the far right, being Eddie. :)

My current two are Angus and MacDuff. This is MacDuff, both pictures taken a few years ago. In the first he was still almost a kitten.

And this is Angus, curled up with Hamish. He is harder to get good pictures of, being black.

Here's another vote for tuxedo cats!

This is RaeAnn. Unfortunately we lost her just a few days ago, to liver cancer. But she lived to be 18 years old.

Our first four cats (ever -- I grew up with dogs, and my husband grew up with no pets) were tuxedos. We have only one of those four left, Kira.

Here is the aforementioned Kira:

Agamemnon, who was quite the fierce, feral tomcat when we trapped him -- but a big ol' pussycat by the end!

13amysisson
Jun. 1, 2016, 2:46 pm

And finally Casey, our first cat. He lived to age 14.

(I'll stop more, or I could just keep posting all day! More cat pictures in my gallery "junk drawer" if anyone feels like looking: http://www.librarything.com/gallery/member/amysisson/junkdrawer

Black cats are harder to photograph but you can still get good shots of them in the right light. :)

Great close up pic of the grey one. I love his eyes :)

I think it's especially special when you gain the trust of a feral. Good job mom :) Have you ever tried taking him out on a harness? I take my Maxi out that way quite a lot so he still gets to go outside, but safely.

Now that I think about it, a feral probably would fight pretty hard over that harness so that's probably a bad idea lol

>18 BookAddict:

We don't have the feral anymore -- he died a year ago. What's funny is that even though it was difficult to win him over, he never once actually tried to escape our house. We trapped him in February in upstate New York, during a winter in which we already had 100 inches of snow! So even though he didn't like us humans for a while, he knew the upside of warmth + regular food! It took him 3 months to stop hissing every time we entered a room he was in, a year and a half to purr for the first time. But the last several years he would great us at the door when we came home, and come to us for petting and attention. Boy, I loved that cat!

I love all your photos and thought I'd share a cute one I took earlier this year.

For Christmas I experimented and bought my cats a heated pet bed. They never used other pet beds I bought in the past but I decided to try again anyway. It was a hit.

Those are my girls trying to share. The bed only fits one comfortably lol The one on the left is Cameo. She's my old lady and turns 17 in three months. The one on the right is Suda, who turns 6 next month. I also have two boys and some of their baby photos are in my profile (4 cats total). I have since bought a second bed and they are still used daily. Occasionally the girls still try to share so 3 of them can be using the beds at once! Has to be some of the best money I've spent :)

Heated beds are terrific for older cats, esp. those who tend to have arthritis.

I took my cat Max out for a walk last night on the leash. He didn't want to go back in at all! I had to carry him to the door lol and then he started screaming and fighting with me to stay out lol. I just said no and took him in. He was so mad that he hissed at his sister (He's never done that before!) and when I instructed him that he wasn't being nice he looked mad and begrudgingly went into the bathroom by himself. I went in there later and found him in the sink where it's cool lol. About an hour later his temper was gone and he wanted petties so he came all purrrry at me and I petted him and our fight was over lol

Oh the life of a cat lady! lol

I haven't taken many pictures recently, and haven't got around to transferring any off my phone yet, but here is one of Xander shortly after he came to live with me

Lexa is a lot trickier to catch on camera - she tends to move or look away but here is one of her taken a little bit later

Someone told me earlier this week that there is a grumpy old man in Saskatchewan who actually thinks there are enough pictures of cats on the Internet without people adding more. I find it hard to believe that rumour but I thought I'd report it here to let you know.

Bearbeitet: Jul. 20, 2018, 8:42 pm

OMG I can't believe I never added a pic of my Lexi here! (Probably because I always have to research how to add a picture!) Here she is:

I adopted her from ASPCA in 2010; she was a young adult cat. History unknown; she has a tipped ear so may be semi-feral. (She sure acts feral at times!)

I agree it is a shame how quiet the group was. We all obviously love the cats in our lives and their have been some really great threads in the past. My two agree about the cats and books thing.
