Topics for this group

I will define this further as I go along, but for the moment this is for all topics having to do with current events.

That includes politics, sports, fashion, books, and of course the new Harry Potter play which is sold out through May 2017.

Thanks for starting the group; great idea. Never saw LT that way before.

People should feel free to discuss and learn about many topics, rather than to just become more insular.

Maybe we could share the questions and answers of our respective disciplines in a safe environment.

I will love a group to discuss and to ask, without the LT tradition of name calling.

And one of these years, I will read a Harry Potter book or maybe one of the movies. : )

I second both of those, particularly the bits I've italicised.

Although regarding the LT tradition, I seem to recall that in the early days of LT talk there was very little name-calling; it seems to have crept in gradually (or am I just being nostalgic?) Maybe we can reclaim a civil and courteous space for sharing?

I dunno, I haven't noticed much name calling. Perhaps I'm reading the wrong threads. I've always considered LT in general and the history people in particular to be very courteous. There was a recent lapse over at Historical Fiction recently where somebody used the C word, but he later apologised.

Please, please can we have a thread devoted to the infernal Donald Trump, who unquestionably qualifies as current event but seems to infest the genuine historical topics.
