Those illustrations are spectacular!

Yup, great looking illustrations. Although they have no dimensions, I'm assuming this is part of the unofficial series of like formatted DLEs that includes The Hound of the Baskervilles, Poe's stories, Dracula, etc. I really like theses and will have to pick this up despite the price.

I haven't picked up the O'Henry book yet. Anyone have it? Also on my shortlist, but at 1200 books, these seem to stay in stock for a while.

The Hound is still one of my favorites, despite the raging debate that set off on this forum about the print. Very educational however.

The O Henry is spectacular - one of my favourites. Have to get this one as well. Looks beautiful!

>2 astropi: Pretty sure they are digital, though. I thought I remembered you saying you didn't like digital art at one point (could be confusing you with someone else, though)?

5: I'm not a huge fan of digital art, although I have to say it does not look digital to me. I would be curious to find out, although it won't change my opinion that it still looks fantastic!

I just received my copy yesterday. In my opinion, this is a beautiful book, from the slipcase, to the paper and the wonderful watercolor (I assume) illustrations.

Does anyone know why Bob Reader has been removed "as Spam." I seem to remember that he has posted many times?

>11 Frank_Zwolinski: “Does anyone know why Bob Reader has been removed ‘as spam’.”

He was still shown as “spam” on a July 4 post in the “Pilgrim’s Progress” thread, but was posting again on July 5 as if nothing had happened. Perhaps he can explain.

I thought he created a new account, named similarly. Did that get removed, too?

I think you’re right. His original name had a single underline between his first and last names, but his new one had a double underline. That still doesn’t explain why he was removed, though.

He was still posting under his new name in the “Gulliver's Travels” thread as recently as July 15.

It seems odd that he would be removed after all his intelligent comments/questions in the past.

Bob Reader has once again been removed from LT, apparently because of some hostility in the FS Devotees forum which I don’t understand. You can read about it in this thread:

>24 jroger1: It seems that there was a belief based on his posting and questioning style that "Bob Reader" was just a new handle of a previously banned user who, apparently, was quite the trouble maker. As far as his/her behavior here, it could occasionally be annoying (asking repeatedly about whether various titles would be reprinted, even after being repeatedly told that even EP customer service reps don't know the answers to those questions). But I don't think it was worthy of a ban. As I said, though, I expect it has to do with the opinion that he was, in reality, this previously banned member.

I agree that he could sometimes be annoying, but I would never have accused him of spam or being abusive. They are wrong about his being the previously banned user “Emily Jones,” though, as their posts were nothing alike.

He made one post at the beginning of the thread I cited that could be construed as promoting a particular vendor, but I don’t think you should ban a member for a single post without cautioning them first.

>26 jroger1: I tend to think he wasn’t Emily (can’t believe that was almost two years ago!), especially because he seems to really be from Canada based on the shipping thing and he hasn’t been mean to anyone. I do think, though, that people were most concerned about the user getting tons of flags all at once for questioning his repeated questions about books from the same seller. But anyway, I wish you well Bob.

The Bob*Reader accounts didn't strike me as spam or even trolling. Frankly, I think whomever is causing the Bob*Reader accounts to be banned is creating more discord on LT than Bob's actual posts. To be fair, I probably don't belong to all the same groups and haven't seen all of Bob's posts but from the EP group vantage point, there was nothing of note worth banning. Did he ask the same availability questions about out of print books all the time? Sure, but his posts weren't limited to that. So at worst, some of his posts may have been a little annoying but who are any of us to judge? I've definitely seen more annoying posts on LT from accounts that aren't getting banned or even flagged. What are we missing? What were the tipping points that caused the admins to press the ban button multiple times?

Perhaps now is a good time to remember that there are a wide range of age groups, education levels, personalities, and levels of command of the English language participating on LT.

Bob Reader came across as quite exuberant, which I didn't have a problem with, and yes, BR asked some of the same questions more than once. The first ban seemed like a bit of an overreaction to me, but I can't claim to know all the details. This time there was an incident with someone reacting to him with a critical question suddenly getting flooded with flags, which did seem fishy. Being banned and then returning under basically the same name took some nerve, too. I'm really not sure what to think of the whole thing. If it's another incarnation of a previous troll / Emily, okay, the ban was a good decision. But if it's just someone else being a bit intense about being on here and book collecting it's much more problematic. I'm not sure what to think.

>30 SF-72:
There seems to be some suspicion on the Devotee site that someone has established multiple accounts and is flagging individuals he or she doesn’t like from all of them. One member was flagged multiple times for no reason, and that may have happened to Bob too. This is scary if true.

Hello, my father recently passed away,he had an extensive collection of these books. My stepmother has graciously gifted many to me, I am just trying to learn more about them and connect with other appreciators. One question is that I don’t know what DLE books are. Thank you for your help
