Pretty terrifying, especially the part about that this theoretically could happen to us. I forget where I rcently read a good scientific account of the hours after the impact - but there were few places to hide, especially on land. There was a version of this in Neal Stephenson's recent Seveneves.

>2 stellarexplorer:: I've had "Seveneves" sitting on my TBR shelf for a few months now, choosing less weighty fare. Perhaps I should wade in and get started on it.

I just read Seveneves, so I think that's why the article really struck me. (Pun intended.)

>3 PossMan: It's as good a reason as any, but just to be clear, that wasn't meant as a recommendation. It was good, I enjoyed it, but not one of those soaringly brilliant works we've had from Stephenson before...

>5 stellarexplorer:: No I didn't take it as a recommendation. The mention just rang a bell.

>1 SylviaC: Sorry I'm late, but that's a fascinating article. (And yes, >2 stellarexplorer: is correct. It's terrifying.)
