Good news can be a Christian term, but not necessarily

Good to hear from you.

That is an interesting comment. I was considering the good news in a Christian context. Specifically to consider if the term has different references in different contexts. eg in Mark or in Galatians.

Paul himself refers to an other good news than the good news of Christ. Gal 1.6,7.

Might there be other valid good news, in a religious context.

Isn't the good news the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ? I think it is!

Well this is news - I don't know if it will be considered good or not:

PEW polls from 2007 to 2014 show a drop among all religious groups in support of the Democratic party but quite a significant rise from 19 to 28 per cent of Democrats now being "unaffiliated".

Looks like if HRC is elected and we are saved from trump it will be greatly to the credit of those who are "unaffiliated" with any religion.

So, is religion (which is christianity overwhelmingly in the U.S.) letting us down? You tell me.
