You might want to keep an eye on the 75 Books Challenge. They just did a readathon for the new year, http://www.librarything.com/topic/244595, and did a few others last year.

In recent years, ReadaThings have been entirely organized by LT members. If someone wants to put one together, we'll be happy to publicize it in the State of the Thing newsletter, blog, etc.

I can also point you to some resources on wiki pages—how ReadaThings past have typically been organized—if you need!

If you want ReadAThing, it requires someone to DoAThing - perhaps you could start a new thread and see if you can get some volunteers to help organise one?
