I created a ticker, cut/paste HTML code (second box) to the ROOT ticker thread and my personal ROOT thread.

I attempted to update it at the ticker site, using the ADD feature. However, upon cut/paste HTML code thereafter, the pointer remains on 0.

The only way I can get the indicator to "move" is by creating a new ticker each time I finish a read. Update function on ticker site does not update the HTML code.

Am I doing something wrong? Did I select an indicator that is not a moving one?

It's been taking a long time for updates to show up on the tickers. Give it a couple of hours and hopefully your update will show up. If you see it on the tickerfactory site, it will eventually show up here.

>1 Limelite: You don't have to cut/paste a second time. It happens automatically in each place were you posted the same ticker. You might have to renew/refresh the thread though. At least that's what I have to do. So press F5.

Thanks to both of you. I did not wait. By now, I've been made too impatient by the digital age to have the patience for when the electrons are slow.

Your info greatly appreciated!

I've also noticed that after I add something, if I select the "next" button it will update right away......you don't do anything after you get to the "next" place, but ticker is updated really quickly!

Yes, I do 'next' as well. The other thing is that I don't use the + or - when I'm changing my total, I just click on the total and use delete/backspace and change the number manually (do-able as I usually only have one at a time to add, even I can manage that level of maths!). Then when I'm back at the page where the ticker sits (usually, my ROOT thread) then I immediately refresh it and that does the trick.

I am just reading this and also have had issues with the ticker being slow to update (while using my Kindle) even after refreshing the page several times. It updates eventually but usually only after I log out of LibraryThing, power down my Kindle and then log in again later that day. I will try a few of the tricks here and see if it helps. I am a bit impatient with these type of things. :-)

I've found that the ticker will usually update by the following day. I note in the text below the ticker on my individual thread the total count to make sure several days later that the update has occurred.

Hmm - I was having trouble with it today - will check back tomorrow to see if it updated!

Depending on the web browser you use, you might just find a simple 'refresh' is all it takes. That certainly seems to work for me in Firefox.
