Since he doesn't seem to have been mentioned in this group (and in fact is too little known in general), I thought I'd link to my post on Konstantin Leontiev, a very interesting author:

Interesting piece. Alas, I can't see any of his works in English, which is frustrating...

Unfortunately I had to balk at purchasing The Egyptian Dove and Against the Current only after reading somewhere that they were poorly translated, something I can't judge not knowing Russian. Have you read either of those two translations? If so, what did you think? Regardless, your blog essay has me thinking that I'll have to find out for myself.

No, these days I only read Russian lit in Russian, so I can't help with that, but if someone said they were poorly translated, they probably were -- it's a common problem, alas.
