Sixteen Authors to One

Found Sixteen Authors to One at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store for $3.00. Had to get it when I saw Cabell was one of the sixteen authors interviewed and discussed. An interesting mix of a few quotes, a perspective on his writing history, and a tour of his home.

Curious! I could not find a mention of this title on The Silver Stallion web page. What more can you say about it, is it a reprint of material from another source or original to this title?

No, it's not on Silver Stallion. It's not a whole book about Cabell, just one of many books with a chapter or section about him. Someday, maybe, if we live forever, we'll get that kinda stuff in -- not that it's not worthy, just that much else precedes it prioity-wise. In the meantime, it is referenced in Brewer's Cabell bibliography, and in Duke's reference guide to Cabell. (And both of those books are on SS!). Duke tells us that Karsner's book came out in 1928, but his profile of Cabell was first published in July 1927 in the New York Herald Tribune Magazine.

Is yours an original, Chris? I only have the Books For Libraries reprint.

Yes, it's a Lewis Copeland, First Printing, November 1928. Rare-ish (no other LT members list having it) but cheap. $3 is the asking price on Amazon

And this seemed to be my weekend for stumbling across Cabell. The very next afternoon I was a sale in a small home a block from my house for the estate of an 103 year old woman who had passed away in December For $5 each, I picked up 1929 McBride (4th printing) Kalki edition of Jurgen with Coyle's illustrations, and a 1930 (first impression) McBride Domnei with Pape's illustrations.

Cool!

Coyle died aout a year after doing those Jurgen illustrations...
