My husband says
1) We do not have £2 mill to spare
2) Even if someone were to give it to us, we couldn't afford the upkeep.
3) With that many bedrooms, what excuse would we have if people wanted to come stay with us?
4) Brexit coming. We like living in the EU.
5) Too historical, we'd be expected to preserve it. And our Ikea furniture might be out of place.
So I guess we won't be buying it this time around. Of course if someone else decides to buy it, we're all good friends here, aren't we? It's in easy reach of the Chunnel and several lovely Nature parks we know, so we'd be happy to visit.
