Independence Day

Independence Day has got to be the worst of the Pulitzers I have read so far. A boring man spends 400+ pages telling us about his 4th of July weekend, which is doing mostly...nothing.
You couldn't pay me to read another Richard Ford book.
I only finished it because it is my goal to read all the Pulitzers.

I agree with you having just finished it myself for the same reason. I admit it was well-written, but the plot and character were very much "so-what." I find Ford's female characters much stronger than the males.
