What's So Funny? was another fun Dortmunder story. Sadly, however, I bought the book by mail from a dealer who advertised the book as "NEW". When I got the book it had someone's name plate on the inside cover and the page edges were greyish. But I decided to keep the book, since I love Dortmunder. Imagine my anger, anguish and annoyance when I get to the part where you know something is going to go wrong (four pages from the end) and the page has been ripped out of the book!

Needless to say, the book is being returned. But I implore my fellow LT'ers... if anyone with this book in their collection would scan pages 355-356 for me I would be sooo grateful. I could make it a four star book instead of a 3.5, I'm sure, if I just knew what happened! I kind of know, but I would like to find out the how...

Can't help (sorry), but I did chuckle ... I remember plowing through a book that was unbinding itself so badly I'd just rip out the sections as I went. Good luck!

>1 mysterymax: My library has it, and I've placed a hold. I'll let you know when it comes in.

>3 rabbitprincess: Thanks. Sorry to say it is looking less and less likely that I will make it up there this summer. I have two photo exhibits going on, grandkids coming, and a writer's retreat. I hear you have flooding. Hope you are high and dry.

>4 mysterymax: I'm sorry to hear you may not be able to join us this summer, but I am glad that it is because you have lots of fun things on the go! I personally am not affected by the flooding, but I have colleagues who live near either the Rideau or the Ottawa rivers and are eyeing the shorelines warily. They opened the canal to take water from the Rideau River, and the canal is now almost full.

And of course we won't get any rain in July or August to compensate for this!!

Of course! It's always too little or too much. Goes without saying. You two still go out for tea - and take pictures!

To return to the thread topic, my copy of What's So Funny? came in today. Let me know the sentences before and after the missing pages, and I'll piece together the rest for you. Not sure if the pagination will be the same on my copy.
